JDS Duplicate Photo Finder is a local Windows desktop app published by JDS Software. It scans only folders you choose, stores its image-analysis cache locally, and does not upload photos, scan results, file paths, logs, settings, or diagnostics to JDS Software or any third party.

Data processed locally

When you scan folders, the app reads supported image files from the selected locations. To make later scans faster and remember your preferences, it stores local data under your Windows profile in %LOCALAPPDATA%\JDSDuplicatePhotoFinder.

The local database may contain file paths, file sizes, modified dates, image dimensions, exact hashes, visual hashes, scan history, app settings, and image-pair decisions you mark as Not Duplicate. The runtime log may also contain local file paths if an error or scan message references a file.

Photos and image content

Your original photos remain in the folders you selected. The app does not copy your photos into the local database, diagnostic bundles, or logs. Deletion actions use the Windows Recycle Bin by default unless you change that setting.

Network use

The app does not send telemetry, analytics, photos, hashes, file paths, settings, logs, or diagnostics over the network. Support bundles are created only when you choose Help → Export Diagnostic Bundle and are saved to a location you select.

Installed help, privacy, and support documents open in the app’s local document viewer. External website links open in your browser. Visiting the website is separate from the desktop app’s local scanning behavior.

Diagnostic bundles

Diagnostic bundles are user-created ZIP files intended for troubleshooting. They include app and runtime metadata plus the runtime log if available. They do not include photos or the SQLite image cache. Review the bundle before sharing it if local file paths are sensitive.

Deleting local app data

You can remove cached scan data from Database → Clear Cached Scan Data. You can also delete the app’s local data folder from Windows File Explorer after closing the app.

Website

This marketing website does not include advertising trackers, analytics scripts, account registration, or a contact form. The hosting provider may retain standard web-server logs under its own terms and settings.
